A Beautiful Sunday

Good evening (or whatever time of day it is for you) everyone!

I hope you're all having a lovely Sunday. I thought this would be a great day to catch you all up on some news and, as I have this weekend off, outline some of the things I enjoy doing on a lazy weekday at home.

Good morning, world! :)

My Day

Let me begin by saying that this is just a one-off beautiful Sunday of mine which I wanted to record to give you a better idea of what I enjoy and how I like to set up my days. This isn't how I always spend my Sundays and it's definitely not me saying I have the-perfect-Sunday-ever-and-if-you-don't-act-like-me-you-suck. Of course not! I really can't get on with that kind of closed mentality.
I'm just writing this because this is the type of blog I like - let's be honest, aren't we all a bit nosey and want to know what other people get up to on their days off? Come on now ;)
Let me into your days off and plans! What ways do you have to unwind and enjoy your days off?

At the moment, I'm working on developing a morning routine. I've already developed an evening one because I had problems sleeping for months on end and it's really helped me.

I woke up and first things first filled out my Daily Greatness Journal.

My Daily Greatness Journal <3

I've been using my Daily Greatness Journal for a week now, so I'm just doing my 'Week Review' today and I'm pleased (and surprised) to say that I've actually achieved quite a lot of my goals this week! My Daily Greatness Journal is a way for me to connect back to myself and my goals twice a day - helping me live a life closer to my values, goals and mindfulness practice.

There will definitely be a blog coming up about this - I just want to give it some more time so I can give you a more thorough and fair review. However, if you're already super excited about this journal (and let's be fair, this book is VERY well celebrated at the moment) you can buy it here:

As part of my morning routine I did some meditation with my trusted old friend of an app, Headspace. I'm doing the Self-Acceptance pack at the moment, I've only just begun but I love getting a bit of clarity first thing in the morning.

Next, after greeting my dog good morning, a mug of tea with a nibble of breakfast out on the patio! Heaven! I think these little moments in between getting things done are actually some of the best, though overlooked, moments in life. Some of the memories I look back on most fondly.

My dog enjoying the lovely sunny morning!

I did a quick Instagram and social media update - but when I have such a beautiful day in front of me I try to enjoy life first-hand as it's happening, before thinking about documenting it.

Next, yoga! Gosh, I love yoga so much. I'm very new to it but it's really helping me connect to myself (as you may be noticing is very important to me :P) physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. I've been practising Yoga With Adriene videos daily for about half a year now and I'm really enjoying the journey of developing my practice. I love her mantra 'Find What Feels Good' (Yoga With Adriene, 2016, Online) and today my chosen mantra was "I let go of perfection", because my goodness, I am a perfectionist... and it can get scary intense all up in here!
If any of you have any yoga recommendations, particularly books - I really want to know! Comment them down below and we can talk about our practices :D.

Not perfect; but hey, it's a practice!
As if by yoga magic, I opened up my e-mails and discover that I've been accepted to cover HowTheLightGetsIn 2016 - The Philosophy and Music Festival at Hay as press!

I just can't tell you how absolutely thrilled I am to have this opportunity. My family and ancestors have lived around Hay for absolutely years and the festivals are so key to opening up Hay-on-Wye as the cultural hub it deserves to be celebrated as! There will definitely be more posts to follow on this - so stay with me on this one!

So, naturally there was then a lot of scurrying and excitement! Argh! Must get business cards sent! Must get cameras ready! Must tell my friends! Haha, as you can imagine...
It's only the 'the world's largest philosophy and music festival' (The Globe at Hay, 2016, Online), guys!

Then it was jogging time. It was so beautiful today and my mum, my dog and I jogged up a massive hill.
On that point, if there is some science person or physical fitness person reading this, can you please explain to me why sometimes I have to force myself to run up a small incline (at walking pace) and other days I can run up and down a hill no questions asked? I am genuinely interested to know. My current theories are what I had to eat before and how fast I go at the beginning of the jog.

Can you tell we've been running? :P
It is so beautiful up the hill from my house - you can see for miles around. I would have taken a photo but you know, sometimes if you stop you'll never start again (well for me anyway!). But I'll go up soon and take photos... and maybe do some paintings if I'm feeling adventurous... of the beautiful countryside.

After that  I had dinner (Lasagne and salad, mmm.... followed by a bit of frozen yoghurt. Now I'm just going to catch up with all things blogging and then it will be a bubble bath, relaxation and bed for me!
I'm working on a Lush products blog - so I have an excuse to go all out with luxury! Lucky me :).
I imagine a Pixar film or a comedy show will make its way into my life this evening but you can rest assured that my evening will have considerably less activity than the yoga and running done before! Haha

As you have seen I've collaborated with Robert Motum on an inteview and we're going to have some more updates as his projects progress, so if you want to keep updated you're in the right place!

You may also see Curious Journeying has a new domain ( along with a new blog layout, which is very exciting! The blog layout is courtesy of QDONOW on Etsy, whose site can be seen there:

Saurabh also gave me help with some issues that I was confused about with the new layout. So if you're thinking of getting a new blog layout, I'd definitely check them out.

We also now have an Instagram (curiousjourneying), Pinterest and Facebook! This is a great chance for me to connect with more of you, so I'm really looking forward to them getting into full swing. I'm also working on a Twitter account, but no luck on this so far.

Also, HowTheLightGetsIn! I'm getting all excited and prepped and ready for that!

Thank you so much for reading my blog, you wonderful person! If you enjoyed the blog, I'd love to hear back from you! If anyone has any yoga or jogging recommendations please comment below. How do you enjoy spending your Sundays? :)

Best wishes from your friend, Nicky

    1. Aww,thanks! My dog adores any love coming her way, haha. Ooh, do! I'm not a naturally sporty person, but it's really great. I think starting with a home practice with videos is a really good way to get nerves out of the way :). I'll follow your blog now, I'd love it if you could follow me back! x
